US Racist Violence against ImmigrantsUS Racist Violence against Immigrants
Washington, Apr 29 (Prensa Latina) The atmosphere surrounding a reform of migratory laws, on which the US Senate has not reached agreement, could encourage racist violence against the 12 million undocumented immigrants in the US, local experts consider.

The recent marches and demonstrations in support of the immigrants have served to make the people and authorities more aware of the social and economic phenomenon, reported Californian La Opinion, Friday.

But said they also unfortunately have increased the anxiety of those who fear and resent immigrants, sparking aggressive and racist legislation and even violence.

Similarly, human rights support groups warned of the increase of clashes between Latinos and Afro-Americans promoted by some racist groups.

According to La Opinion, the economic and social situation of Latino and Afro American people are based on common challenges in terms of education and opportunities.

The issue remains headlined by local media a couple of days before the expected national protest set for May Day under the slogan "A Day Without Immigrants".
