USA: THE CHARLESTON MASSACRE…WHY?

A few days ago there was another appalling incident in the United States in which nine people were killed at the Emanuel African Methodist (AME) Church of Charleston, South Carolina.

The US president, Barack Obama, immediately regretted the death of the nine people – Blacks by the way– and said that the tragedy occurred because the murderer had no trouble getting a weapon with which to carry out the attack.

 Some of his words on the incident were:
“…to say our thoughts and prayers are with them … doesn’t say enough to convey the heartache and the sadness and the anger that we feel… I’ve had to make statements like this too many times…At some point, we as a country will have to reckon with the fact that this type of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries…”

Obama’s analysis is very simplistic. The mass murder did not happen only because the murderer had no trouble getting the weapon. This reasoning tries to hide other situations that affect the psychology of the US citizen; situations which are promoted and supported by the U.S. government, in this case the Obama administration itself.

How can Dylann Roof, the man accused of the mass murder, think that he has committed a crime by killing a few Blacks when the Obama administration recently helped Israel murder thousands in the Gaza Strip, and not only helped but at no time condemned what happened?
If Dylann Roof reads the papers that report the murders carried out in Pakistan, Afghanistan and other countries by US drones, one of which killed more than fifteen people including women and children who were not Black, but other dark-skinned peoples... What can he think of just killing a few Blacks?

When Dylann Roof learned that the United States organized and financed Al Qaeda in order to use it for their strategic purposes, and that the events of September 11 with the collapse of the Twin Towers killing nearly 3000 people might have been a self-inflicted coup to unleash a war on terrorism, something the United States needed in order to maintain the production of the military industrial complex... What relevance can what he did have?

When the assistance the US has been giving to the groups trying to overthrow the Syrian government comes to light, and it becomes clear that this support has been used to destroy houses, churches, schools, hospitals in that country and to kill thousands of civilians... How much importance would Roof Dylann give to a simple church in Charleston?

We may continue with this reasoning and we could give hundreds of examples of what happened in several countries where the murderous hand was promoted, financed and supported by the United States. This or the US troops committing the crimes.

This way of conducting foreign relations and expressing their values in the world has domestic consequences.
If we can kill Palestinians and Arabs to guarantee our "National Security"... why not kill Blacks, who in his opinion would also be a danger to national security?

If we use all kinds of weapons to fight those we consider enemies and we can bomb a church, or a hospital, or a housing complex... why not use weapons to cleanse our own country?

 If, in the countries where we have economic interests, those who march in protests are murdered and others repressed by the police and thrown in jail... why should such protests of those that oppose our system in the US?

 Blacks are not the only ones who threaten national security: Latinos, Chinese, the immigrants who come to find work, the undocumented are also threats. If the government does nothing against them, we the citizens who want to defend the country must do it.

 Events like Charleston’s do not originate only because someone could easily get a weapon. They also arise from the existing state of hatred within US society against some of its members; from the totally criminal way in which the United States helps torturers and murderers in various parts of the world. This is reproduced internally and develops a white supremacist mentality which believes it can act with impunity against those opposed to the interests of the big capital that dominates society –a society that includes people of all races. And this is so because murders and tortures are not criticized and persecuted by the US government, but supported and overlooked when the perpetrator is an ally.

Sorry, Mr. Obama, but I'm sure that in your time remaining in the White House you will see much worse and, despite all your regrets, if US policy does not change you would have accomplished nothing. The values and philosophy that are used to kill other peoples will continue being finding expressopm within the United States of America, as well.

                                  

 

    
   




EU.- LA MASACRE DE CHARLESTON ¿POR QUÉ?

Hace pocos días se originó en Estados Unidos otro incidente penoso en el cual fueron asesinados nueve ciudadanos en la iglesia Emanuel de Charleston, Carolina del Sur.

El presidente de Estados Unidos, Barack Obama, de inmediato lamentó la muerte de esas nueve personas, por cierto , de la raza negra y afirmó que la tragedia se dio porque el asesino no tuvo problemas para conseguir un arma con la cual perpetuar el ataque.

Parte de sus palabras sobre el incidente fueron:

“Decir que nuestros pensamientos y oraciones están con ellos… no es suficiente para transmitir la angustia y la tristeza y la ira que sentimos”…“He tenido que hacer declaraciones como ésta muchas veces ya (…) En algún momento tenemos reconocer que este tipo de violencia no ocurre en otros países…” .

El análisis de Obama es muy simplista. El asesinato masivo no ocurre solamente porque el asesino no tuvo problemas para conseguir el arma. Este razonamiento trata de ocultar otras situaciones que influyen en la psicología del ciudadano estadounidense, que son promovidas y apoyadas por el gobierno, en este caso la propia administración Obama.

¿Cómo puede pensar el acusado del asesinato masivo Dylann Roof, que ha cometido un crimen por matar unos cuantos negros cuando la propia administración Obama ayudó a que Israel recientemente asesinara decenas de miles de personas en la Franja de Gaza y no solamente la ayudó sino que en ningún momento condenó lo sucedido?

Si Dylann Roof lee en la prensa los asesinatos que realizan en Pakistán, Afganistán y otros países, los drones dirigidos por Estados Unidos, en uno de los cuales murieron más de quince personas, entre ellos niños y mujeres, que no eran negros, pero eran árabes. ¿Qué puede pensar él de matar unos cuantos negros?

Cuando Dylann Roof se enteró de que Estados Unidos organizó y financio Al Qaeda con el fin de utilizarla en sus fines estratégicos y que los sucesos del 11 de septiembre donde colapsaron las Torres Gemelas y murieron cientos de personas, puede haber sido un autogolpe para desatar la guerra contra el terrorismo, algo que Estados Unidos necesitaba con el objetivo de poder mantener la producción del Complejo Militar Industrial. ¿Qué relevancia puede tener lo que él hizo?

Cuando sale a la luz pública la ayuda que Estados Unidos ha entregado a los grupos que tratan de derrocar al gobierno Sirio, ayuda que se ha utilizado para destruir casas, iglesias, escuelas, hospitales de aquel país y asesinar miles de personas. ¿Qué importancia le daría Dylann Roof a lo que hizo en la iglesia de Charleston?

Podemos continuar con este razonamiento y daríamos cientos de ejemplos de lo sucedido en varios países del mundo, donde la mano asesina estaba impulsada, financiada y sostenida por Estados Unidos, cuando no han sido sus propias tropas las que han cometido los crímenes.

Esta forma de conducir las relaciones exteriores y de manifestar sus valores en el mundo, trae consecuencias internas.

Si podemos matar palestinos y árabes para garantizar nuestra “Seguridad Nacional”, ¿Porqué no matar negros, que en mi criterio son también un peligro a la Seguridad Nacional.

Si utilizamos todo tipo de armamento para luchar contra los que consideramos enemigos y lo mismo bombardeamos una iglesia, que un hospital, que un complejo de viviendas. ¿Por qué no utilizar algunas armas para ir limpiando internamente el país?

Si en los países donde tenemos intereses económicos los que protestas son asesinados, y otros reprimidos por la policía y encarcelados. ¿Por qué dejar que protesten en Estaos Unidos los que están en contra de nuestro sistema?

Los negros no son solamente los que amenazan la Seguridad Nacional, también la amenazan los latinos, los chinos, los inmigrantes que vienen a buscar trabajo, los indocumentados. ¿Si el gobierno no hace nada en contra de eso, tenemos que hacerlo los ciudadanos que queremos defender el país.?

Los sucesos como el de Charleston no se originan solamente porque alguien pude fácilmente conseguir un arma. Se originan también por el estado de odio existente en la sociedad estadounidense contra una parte de sus miembros, por la forma totalmente criminal en que Estados Unidos ayuda a torturadores y asesinos en varias partes del mundo, lo cual algunos reproducen internamente, por el desarrollo de una supremacía blanca que considera puede actuar impunemente contra los que se opongan a los intereses de los grandes capitales que dominan la sociedad, incluyendo en esto a personas de todas las razas. Porque los asesinatos y torturas, en vez de ser criticados y perseguidos por el gobierno estadounidense, son apoyados y pasados por alto cuando el que los comete es un aliado.

Señor Obama, lo siento por usted, pero estoy seguro que en el tiempo que le queda en la Casa Blanca va a conocer cosas peores y por mucho que se lamente, si no cambia la política de Estados Unidos, no habrá hecho nada. Los valores y filosofía que se utilizan para asesinar otros pueblos, continuarán poniéndose de manifiesto en los propios Estados Unidos
