My Honest Opinion

How can we complain –as so many have done– about the lack of
a more critical and self-critical journalism, and now attack Fernando
Ravsberg who, with his personal and committed perspective of decades
living in Cuba, constantly disrupts the distortion that a big part of
the world press makes of our reality? I consider it a huge mistake to
train our guns on Ravsberg for saying what he sees from his personal
perception.
If the revolution has been able to recognize its faults; if
revolutionaries the likes of Fidel and Che gave us countless times the
lesson of acknowledging our mistakes... what is the purpose of lynching
a critical journalist?
Gentlemen, let us reread; let us analyze the speeches of our President,
Raúl Castro.
With apologies to the dedicated colleagues who can justify screaming,
“let’s go get him!” Taking off my hat to the distinguished scholars who
–maybe inadvertently—are oiling the guillotine; with great respect for
intellectuals of great merit and similar responsibilities, I think this
simultaneous attack against Ravsberg may seem a campaign reminiscent of
gray-periods and acts of repudiation which are unnecessary,
counterproductive and unfair.
Was a proper coverage of the side events of the Panama Summit really
made? Were all the aspects of what happened well -reported and properly
analyzed? I was there and –honestly– I do not think I have all the
information. The chosen one who has it should organize it and publish
it, please.
Beyond the inaccuracies that may appear in his article on the
confrontation between the civil society sent by Havana and the one
chartered by Miami, comrade Ravsberg said what many think. Let us not
make the mistake of believing that everything that is said from outside
is automatically false. What is false and cunning is the reason that
moves some to say certain things –the nuances that sometimes are
highlighted. But occasionally one can hear things that bite us,
especially if they are based on evidence.
In such circumstances, insults and squeaks appear too often when
what is most needed is serenity and a clear mind to avoid falling into
attitudes that are traps for intelligence. The manufacturers of obtuse
minds know how to these turn into banners to imitate, even in other
spaces, to make it even more complicated.
Another thing I want to point out is that too often to criticize
Ravsberg –covertly or overtly—his nationality is mentioned as if such a
thing were a setback. Beware of extreme nationalism. I hope we never
forget that Our America is not a rhetorical phrase, but blood of the
same body running through our continent and our history, with
brotherhood as its foundation and destination.

que se refieren al tema hasta las 10:50 am de este 20 de abril en el
foro ejemplar que es ese espacio.

¿Cómo podemos quejarnos, como tantos han
hecho, de la falta de un periodismo más crítico y autocrítico, y ahora
caerle en pandilla a
Fernando Ravsberg que, con
su visión personal y comprometida de décadas viviendo en Cuba, desbarata
constantemente la distorsión que comete buena parte de la prensa mundial
con nuestra realidad? Considero un error enorme enfilarle los cañones a
Ravsberg, por contar lo que ve desde su percepción personal.
Si la Revolución ha sido capaz de reconocer sus fallas, si
revolucionarios de la talla de Fidel y el Che nos dieron innumerables
veces la lección de volverse contra nuestros errores ¿qué significa el
linchamiento de un periodista crítico?
Señores, volvamos a leer, asimilemos los discursos de nuestro
Presidente, Raúl Castro.
Con perdón de los abnegados compañeros que puedan justificar los gritos
de ¡a por él!; quitándome el sombrero ante los insignes académicos que a
lo mejor sin darse cuenta inflan la guillotina; respetando muchísimo a
intelectuales de grandes méritos y similares responsabilidades, me
parece que este ataque simultáneo contra Ravsberg puede parecer campaña,
reminiscencias de quinquenios grises y parametraciones, acto de repudio
innecesario y contraproducente, además de injusto.
¿Realmente se hizo una divulgación correcta de las actividades
colaterales de la Cumbre de Panamá? ¿Todos los aspectos de lo sucedido
fueron bien mostrados y debidamente analizados? Yo estuve allí y
sinceramente no me creo con toda la información. Ese bendito elegido que
la tiene, que la organice y la publique, por favor.
Más allá de las imprecisiones que pueda haber en el escrito sobre la
confrontación de la sociedad civil enviada por La Habana y la fletada
por Miami, el compañero Ravsberg ha dicho lo que muchos piensan. No
caigamos en la simpleza de creer que todo lo que se dice desde afuera es
falso, automáticamente. Lo falso, lo artero es la razón que mueve a
algunos a decir, los matices que a veces se subrayan, pero alguna que
otra vez se pueden escuchar cosas que nos pican, sobre todo si están
basadas en evidencias.
En tales circunstancias, demasiado a menudo aparecen injurias y
chirridos, cuando lo que más falta hace es serenidad, lucidez para no
caer en actitudes que son trampas a la inteligencia, y que los
fabricantes de obtusos saben convertir en banderolas a imitar, incluso
en otros ámbitos, para complicarlo todo más.
Otra cosa que quiero señalar es que demasiado a menudo, para ponerle
correctivos a Ravsberg, clara o veladamente se señala su nacionalidad,
como si tal cosa fuera una impedimenta. Ojo con el nacionalismo a
ultranza. Espero que nunca olvidemos que Nuestra América no es una frase
retórica, sino sangre de un mismo cuerpo que corre por nuestro
continente, por nuestra Historia, con la hermandad como fundamento y
destino.
