PUTIN CRITICIZES WASHINGTON'S ERRATIC BEHAVIOR

Russian President
Vladimir Putin believes that the United States, having declared itself the winner of the Cold War, saw no need to carry out a rational reconstruction of the system of international relations to establish a new balance of power essential for maintaining order and stability in the world.

On the contrary,
the US has sought to carry out this renewal to suit its own interests for global domination, thus exacerbating the imbalance of power.

According to information from the Russian news agency RT, Putin appeared at a recent meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club, where he expressed the view that US policy on the international scene is similar to the behavior of the nouveaux rich who, instead of managing their wealth wisely, (world leadership in this case) fritters it away.

Putin condemned the idea of American exceptionalism. “A unilateral diktat and imposing one’s own models to other nations produces the opposite result. Instead of settling conflicts, it leads to their escalation; instead of sovereign and stable states we see the growing spread of chaos; and instead of democracy there is support for a very dubious public, ranging from open neo-fascists to Islamic radicals.”

The Russian president said that the United States initially supported Islamists "to achieve some of its objectives, and then has become a victim of its own inventions."

Putin believes that “the very notion of "national sovereignty" became a relative value for most countries. In essence, what was being proposed by Washington was the formula: “the greater the loyalty towards the world’s sole power center, the greater this or that ruling regime’s legitimacy.”

"The international community is under pressure without precedent by Western governments. The measures taken against those who refuse to submit include measures such as use of force, economic and propaganda pressure, and meddling in their domestic affairs," said Putin.

The Russian president
said that there is increasing evidence that outright blackmail has been used with regard to some leaders. How can we feel comfortable in a world in which Big Brother spends millions of dollars on global espionage, he asked?

Putin argued that sanctions against Moscow for political reasons arising from the situation in Ukraine constitute a counter-productive mistake, because they lead to increasing the economic sovereignty of Russia.

According to Putin, "More and more states are making efforts to free themselves from dependence on the US dollar They are creating alternative financial and payment systems, and using reserve currencies other that the US dollar."

“Our
American
friends are cutting off the branch on which they are sitting, because their sanctions hurt everyone," Putin said.

The foreign policy of the White House is erratic. Obama had a realistic strategy of working with Putin to untangle the geopolitical chaos in the Middle East, but this was frustrated.  It was blocked by the neo-conservatives who are still betting on the fall of Bashar al-Assad and trying to create chaotic situations –such as the one in Libya rather than tolerating the existence of adverse regimes.

President Putin said that Russia does not plan to withdraw from the world, but remains open to dialogue for normalizing economic relations.

The Russian President specifically called for dialogue between the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union with a view to creating a common space for economic cooperation from the Atlantic to the Pacific.

The Eurasian Economic Union is an organization born on 29 May, 2014 with the signing of a treaty by the presidents of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. The treaty will become effective on January 1, 2015, when the Eurasian Economic Community, born in 2000, will dissolve.

On October 10, 2014, Armenia became the fourth full member and soon Kyrgyzstan will do the same. Its membership is already in process. The Eurasian Economic Union is considered an expression of the strengthening of the integration process that is taking place in the post-Soviet scene.

As the prominent Uruguayan journalist Raúl Zibechi wrote recently: one of the essential activities of colonialism and imperialism is to prevent the peripheral countries from doing what central countries do. When this no longer works, it means the old order focused on the center-periphery relationship is making way for new international relationships.
