Biden's Words...If He Actually Uttered Them

An interview with U.S. Vice President Joe Biden in which, it is said, he speaks about Cuba was just published.

One of the aspects that needs clarification about this interview is whether or not it was actually made; and if he said what it says he said. The original sources that reported and made ​​the interview are unreliable. We all remember the interview that they said President Obama had given the Globera Mayor*, which later proved to be false. The Globera herself had prepared the questions and answers, as are many of the things she usually does. 

Assuming that the interview was genuine, Biden argued that the detention of Alan Gross is the main obstacle for improving relations between Washington and Havana. How primitive is Biden’s thinking! Has US hegemony gone to his head? 

Mr. Biden, apparently forgot to mention the three Cuban heroes imprisoned in the United States, whose incarceration, like that of Gross, could be the main obstacle to the improvement of the political climate between Washington and Havana . (Maybe Biden does not know that between the two countries, at present, there are no diplomatic relations.)
  
Among the questions they say he answered was to describe the policy towards Cuba, in which he said the following: "Our goal is to promote a positive change in Cuba so that Cubans can enjoy a normal, productive life in their own country, have the freedom to express their views and to benefit from an inclusive and democratic political system."

Regardless of the deep interference implied by Biden who believes he has the right to promote changes in another country that is not his --something very typical of the Doctrine of Manifest Destiny-- it would be important that he tried to encourage changes in the country where he is Vice-President. Thus, all Americans could have employment that would provide them with "a normal and productive life in their own country".

He should work to increase the income of the population so that more than 30 million Americans --including more than 7 million children, most of them black-- stop living below the poverty line. He should actually promote the establishment of a true health care system which would cover the entire population, not like the one they have now in which nearly 7 million people are without coverage.  

Regarding freedom of expression: the United States is not the best example of this because of the media control by the establishment and the constant, illegally exercised, and almost total, control by intelligence agencies of the U.S. government on all conversations and messages between citizens every day. The country of which Mr. Biden is Vice-President is an exclusive plutocracy, very far away from what he called "inclusive and democratic ". It seems that Biden has not realized he has a glass ceiling and is throwing stones high up.

Biden said to the Globera that U.S. policy regarding Cuba "is guided by the commitment to support the desire of the Cuban people to freely determine their own future, to promote U.S. interests and universal values." This is more of the same Manifest Destiny and also a distortion of Cuba's reality. The Cuban people freely express their views about the future every time they go to the polls. In Cuban elections, more than 90 percent of those entitled to do so cast their vote. If this is compared with the statistics of U.S. elections, where regularly only 50 percent of possible voters cast a vote, there is no doubt that in that country there is a total resignation among the people about how impossible it is to find a better future through elections.

I have no doubt that the actions of the U.S. government have always been aimed at "promoting American interests" as Biden said, and not the interests of Cuba. This has been the basis of the policy toward Cuba of all the U.S. administrations since Eisenhower, and I'm sure it will continue to be so in the future.

As for the "universal values" that the Vice-President says they will promote, his words provoke laughter. The only universal values ​​that the United States has been promoting in recent years are embodied in the thousands of people killed in Libya, Syria, and Ukraine; in promoting coups in Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Egypt, Thailand and other countries; in the murder of civilians by using "drones" in Afghanistan and Pakistan; and in saying that it is fighting terrorism when in fact it is protecting, supporting and promoting it.  

It is pitiful that Biden says all these things which reflect a strong dose of cynicism, mockery toward international public opinion, and extreme ignorance about what happens in Cuba and in the world.

In short, anything he says will be published by the Globera Mayor. That is what she is paid to do. Selling lies for dollars is good business for her.

* Translator’s Note: Globera is a play on words with Blogera (blogger). Globera/globero (from globo meaning balloon) in Spanish means a person who makes up stories. These people exaggerate (inflate) or simply invent stories for their audiences. They lie like Baron Munchaussen.

Acaba de ser publicada una entrevista al Vicepresidente de Estados Unidos, Joe Biden, en la cual se dice, habla de Cuba.

Uno de los aspectos que es necesario aclarar sobre esta entrevista, es si realmente la misma se efectuó y si dijo lo que dicen que dijo. Las fuentes originales que divulgaron y realizaron la misma no son confiables. Todos recordamos aquella entrevista que se dijo el presidente Obama había concedido a la “Globera Mayor”, que después resultó ser engañosa, pues la misma Globera había preparado las preguntas y respuestas, como muchas cosas a las que nos tiene acostumbrados.

Asumiendo que la entrevista fuera cierta, en la misma Biden plantea que la reclusión de Alan Gross es el obstáculo principal para el mejoramiento de las relaciones entre Washington y La Habana. ¡ Qué pensamiento más elemental el de Biden ¡ ¿Será que la hegemonía se le fue para la cabeza?

Señor Biden, al parecer se le olvido mencionar a los tres héroes cubanos que guardan prisión en Estados Unidos, cuyo encierro, al igual que el de Gross, pudiera ser el obstáculo principal para el mejoramiento del clima político entre Washington y la Habana ( Quizás Biden no sepa que entre los dos países, en estos momentos, no existen relaciones diplomáticas)

Dentro de las preguntas que dicen contestó, planteo para describir la política hacia Cuba lo siguiente : “Nuestro objetivo es promover un cambio positivo en la Isla para que los cubanos puedan disfrutar de una vida normal y productiva en su propio país, tener la libertad de expresar sus puntos de vista y beneficiarse de un sistema político inclusivo y democrático”.

Independientemente del profundo injerencismo que implica lo dicho por Biden, que se abroga el derecho a promover cambios en otro país que no es el suyo, algo muy propio de la Doctrina del Destino Manifiesto, sería importante que tratara de promover cambios en el propio país del que es Vicepresidente, para que todos los estadounidenses puedan tener empleo, lo que les proporcionaría “una vida normal y productiva en su propio país”, que trabaje por aumentar los ingresos de la población para que mas de 30 millones de estadounidenses no estén viviendo por debajo de la línea de la pobreza, entre ellos más de 7 millones de niños, la mayoría de la raza negra. Que de verdad promueva el instaurar un verdadero sistema de atención médica que cubra a toda la población del país, no como el actual en que casi 7 millones de personas están faltas de cobertura.

En cuanto a la libertad de expresión, no son los Estados Unidos el mejor ejemplo de esto, por el control de los medios informativos por parte de establishment y por el constante y casi total control ejercido ilegalmente por las agencias de espionaje del gobierno estadounidense sobre las conversaciones de todo tipo y mensajes que diariamente emiten los ciudadanos. El país del cual el señor Biden es Vicepresidente es una plutocracia exclusivista, lo más alejado de lo que el llamo “inclusivo y democrático”. Parece que Biden no se ha dado cuenta que tiene el tejado de cristal y está lanzando piedras a las alturas.

Biden dijo a la globera que la política de EEUU respecto a Cuba “se guía por el compromiso de apoyar el deseo del pueblo cubano de determinar libremente su propio futuro, impulsar los intereses estadounidenses y promover los valores universales”. Sigue la promoción del Destino Manifiesto y además la tergiversación sobre la realidad cubana. El pueblo cubano expresa libremente sus criterios en cuanto al futuro cada vez que concurre a las urnas, donde siempre votan más del 90 por ciento de los que tienen derecho a hacerlo. Si se compara esto con las estadísticas de las elecciones estadounidenses, donde vota regularmente un poco más del 50 por ciento, no hay duda de que en ese país existe una total resignación por parte del pueblo sobre lo imposible que resulta buscar un mejor futuro por medio de las elecciones.

No tengo duda alguna que las acciones del gobierno de Estados Unidos han sido siempre dirigidas a “impulsar los intereses estadounidenses”, como plantea Biden y no los de Cuba. Esto ha sido el fundamento de la política hacia Cuba de todas las administraciones a partir de la de Eisenhower y estoy seguro lo seguirá siendo en las próximas.

En cuanto a los “valores universales” que el vicepresidente plantea promover, sus palabras provocan risa, pues los únicos valores universales que Estados Unidos han estado promoviendo en los últimos años se materializan en las miles de personas muertas en Libia, Siria, Ucrania. En la promoción de golpes de estado en Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Egipto, Tailandia y otros países. En el asesinato de civiles utilizando “drones” en Afganistán y Pakistan. En decir que combate el terrorismo cuando en realidad lo protege, financia y promueve.

Es lastimoso que Biden diga todas estas cosas que demuestran una fuerte carga de cinismo, de burla hacia la opinión pública internacional y de extrema ignorancia sobre lo que sucede en Cuba y en el mundo.

En definitiva, cualquier cosa que diga, la Globera Mayor lo va a publicar, para eso le pagan. El vender mentiras en dólares le ha resultado un buen negocio.
