On
Tuesday April 9, Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro
inaugurated the "Vilma Espin Guillois" educational
complex in areas adjacent to the dairy "Dairy Future 'in the
municipality of Playa in Havana.
Built in just 11 months at Fidel's initiative, the center
has two teaching blocks including classrooms from
kindergarten to sixth grade, library and computer lab, all
with a capacity for 140 students.
The
educational complex, opened just days to commemorate the
83rd birthday of the heroine of the mountains and the
plains, also has a child care center that will house 34
children, sports areas and a medical post.
The
teaching staff consists of 31 partners, including a
doctorate in psychology.
Inaugurating the center, Fidel highlighted the efforts and
dedication of the builders who counted from the start with
the unconditional support of the soldiers and civilian
workers of the Personal Security Directorate.
Due to
persistent rain, the activity moved to interior areas of the
center, where the leader of the Cuban Revolution talked for
about two hours with children, teachers, builders and
community residents.
He
spoke about today's major international issues, including
climate change, weapons of mass destruction, the economic
crisis and high fuel prices.
He
said that under these circumstances it is difficult to life
on planet Earth.
Fidel also referred to food production in the country, the
need to diversify crops to increase yields and
characteristics of the "Vilma Espin Guillois" educational
complex just opened in the year which marks the 160th
anniversary of the birthday of National Hero José Martí, 60
of the attacks on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes
and the 55th anniversary of 9 April.
Also present at the activity were
members of the Political Bureau Commander of the Revolution
Ramiro Valdés Menéndez, the Army Corps General Abelardo
Colome Ibarra and Mercedes López Acea, First Secretary of
the Party in Havana
At
the opening of the center troubadours Eduardo Sosa and Pepe
Ordaz and Grupo Moncada, performed the song Chamamé to Cuba
which was echoed by all present.
Before concluding, the historic leader of the Revolution,
Fidel Castro Ruz, invited those present to listen to the
song The return of a friend, composed and performed by an
excellent group of dedicated artists and Commander Hugo
Chavez's Bolivarian Revolution.
