Alt-Market is an organization of activists in the US designed to construct communities for mutual aid and defense through alternative market barter networks. It is made up of citizens who wish to step away from the system and build something better. In his article "America Has Already Collapsed", recently published by the digital journal Activist Post, Alt Market leader Brandon Smith discusses the motivations and goals of his organization. "The America that the Founding Fathers created has been ransacked and deformed into a hideous lampoon of its former self," says Smith. "We have a two-party system. Both parties have the same desires and goals, collude to remove civil liberties rather than protect them, and are funded by the same corporate backers. There is no such thing as change through the process of elections. Anyone who claims that government corruption can be punished through the ballot box, hasn't the slightest clue how our system really functions," denounces the leader of Alt-Market. "When the government decides to push through banker bailouts, the Patriot Act and the National Defense Authorization Act, it is clear that the paradigm has shifted and the Founding Fathers American value of representation by and for the people is lost," says Smith In the view of this activist, the elites have been able to con the masses of the nation by manipulating the frailty of the American collective psyche which embraces the patriotic ideal without knowing what it really means. "If I had to choose a single factor as paramount to our downfall, I would say that Americans most of all are confounded by their own patriotism," adds Smith. "Our government has utterly violated the original principles of reserved foreign policy. The excuse always used is that "we are under attack." Yet we usually discover later that these "attacks" were actually fabricated by our own leaders; from the sinking of the USS Maine, to the sinking of the Lusitania, to the Gulf of Tonkin and beyond, for the past 100 years. This strategy has become so common that elitists now openly admit their intentions to commit future false flags in order to draw us into yet another war, this time with Iran," Smith explains. "The current policy of "exporting democracy" has not only been a complete failure (just look at Egypt, Libya, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.), it is also a total affront to the foundation of the American dynamic. Patriotism in the name of interventionism is foolhardy and decidedly un-American. Absolutely everything the colonists fought against has been re-established by the globalists in our political structure today, once again, all in the name of national security." A stalwart supporter of the traditional free market, Smith fails to see that the problem is with capitalism itself, not only in its monopolist and imperialist stage. The total submission of the economy to the whims of a market ruled by an increasingly smaller number of increasingly powerful capitalists led to the present disaster. Nevertheless, his arguments about the submission of the country to the rule of corporate hierarchies that manipulate society are sound. He holds that "America has not had the pleasure of free markets for at least 100 years. No one alive today has ever seen an actual American 'free market', so to blame free markets for our modern failings is rather thoughtless." He says that US government agencies are very demanding when it comes to national security, but "constantly overlook corporate misdeeds that put the public in true danger while pummeling average citizens for minor or non-existent offenses." "We have seen the enslavement of our money supply and general economy by the Federal Reserve; invasive and violent taxation through the Internal Revenue Service; loss of privacy through the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance and the Patriot acts; loss of property rights through multiple agencies; the militarization of law enforcement through the Department of Homeland Security; potential loss of Habeas Corpus; and even wrongful arrest against those who merely speak openly of their discontent," Smith. Smith says that those who compare the US to "a vampirdenounces e squid, flailing its vicious tentacles against innocent foreign civilizations and becoming world nightmare must be aware that the ideals of the Founding Fathers were abandoned by those in the seat of power." Se identifica como integrada por ciudadanos deseosos de desmarcarse del sistema imperante y construir algo mejor. Brandon Smith, dirigente de Alt Market, publicó en la revista digital Activist Post un artículo en el que aborda las motivaciones y objetivos de su organización bajo el título de “Estados Unidos ya ha colapsado” (“America has already collapsed”). “La nación estadounidense de sus fundadores ha sido saqueada y deformada, convertida en una espantosa sátira de su antiguo ser, afirma Smith. “Contamos con un sistema bipartidista. Ambos tienen las mismas aspiraciones y objetivos, conspiran para eliminar las libertades civiles en vez de protegerlas, y son financiados por donantes corporativos. No son posibles cambios mediante elecciones. Quien afirme que la corrupción del gobierno puede ser castigada a través de las urnas no tiene la más mínima idea de cómo funciona realmente nuestro sistema”, denuncia el líder de Alt Market. Cuando el gobierno decide salvar mediante rescates a los banqueros, aprueba la Ley Patriótica y la Ley de autorización de la Defensa Nacional, está claro que el paradigma ha cambiado y se ha perdido el valor de representación por y para el pueblo de los padres fundadores, precisa Smith. Para el activista estadounidense las élites han logrado enorme control sobre las masas del país manipulando la fragilidad de la psique colectiva de los norteamericanos, que incorporan a sus sentimientos patrióticos ideales que aceptan sin saber lo que éstos realmente significan. “Si tuviera que escoger un factor decisivo en nuestro colapso, yo diría que, sobre todo, hemos sido confundidos en nuestro patriotismo”. Nuestro gobierno ha violado totalmente los principios originales de política exterior. La excusa ha sido siempre que "estamos bajo ataque", pero generalmente descubrimos más tarde que se trata de supuestos ataques fabricados por nuestros propios líderes. Así ocurrió con el hundimiento del USS Maine o el del Lusitania y hasta con el incidente en el Golfo de Tonkín y muchos casos más en los últimos cien años. “La estrategia se ha vuelto tan común que ya las élites admiten abiertamente su intención de falsificar banderas con el fin de llevarnos a otra guerra en el futuro, la próxima contra Irán”, dice Smith. La política actual de exportar la democracia, fracasada en los casos de Egipto, Libia, Siria, Irak y Afganistán, es afrenta total a la dinámica fundacional de Estados Unidos. “El intervencionismo a nombre del patriotismo es temerario y antiamericano. Todo aquello contra lo que lucharon los colonos revolucionarios ha sido reincorporado a nuestra estructura política actual en aras de la seguridad nacional”. Partidario acérrimo del libre mercado tradicional, Smith no alcanza a ver que el mal está en el capitalismo mismo, no es algo privativo de su etapa monopolista e imperialista. Al desastre actual condujo el sometimiento total de la economía a las veleidades de un mercado en el que se impone un número cada vez más reducido de capitalistas cada vez más poderosos. No obstante, sus argumentos acerca del sometimiento del país al dominio de las jerarquías corporativas que manipulan la sociedad son sólidos. Sostiene que “Estados Unidos no ha tenido mercados libres en los últimos cien años y ningún estadounidense vivo ha conocido un verdadero mercado libre, por lo que culpar al mercado de fracasos actuales no es justo”. Afirma que las agencias gubernamentales de EE.UU. suelen ser muy exigentes en aras de la seguridad nacional, pero descuidan sistemáticamente las fechorías corporativas mientras reprimen con máximo rigor delitos menores o inexistentes del ciudadano común. Denuncia la subordinación de la circulación monetaria y de la economía en general a la Reserva Federal; el invasivo y violento sistema impositivo a través del Servicio de Rentas Internas; la pérdida de privacidad a causa de los sistemas de inteligencia y las leyes patriotas; la pérdida de derechos de propiedad impuesta por múltiples agencias federales; la militarización de la policía a través del Departamento de Seguridad Nacional; la pérdida potencial de Hábeas Corpus, e incluso la detención ilícita de quienes sólo exteriorizan su descontento. Smith dice que quienes comparan a Estados Unidos con un pulpo avaro que agita sus amenazantes tentáculos contra inocentes civilizaciones extranjeras y constituye una pesadilla para el mundo, deben saber que los ideales de los padres fundadores han sido abandonados por los dueños del poder.
