Los 50 años de su deceso (yo me inclino por decir asesinato) se cumplieron este 5 de agosto y en el buscador de Google aparecen 74.600.000 referencias.

Calificada en la década del 50 como una mujer tonta con una sensualidad desbordante, el tiempo ha cambiado tal definición y sin llegar a sostener, porque es risible, que era más inteligente que Einstein ya que su coeficiente de inteligencia (168) era superior al del extraordinario físico (137), hoy nadie habla de ella como la bobita de glúteos grandes y boca sensual.

En poco tiempo su rostro comenzó a ser conocido en numerosas revistas y  también siguiendo los consejos de Emmeline, empezó a aclarase su pelo, hasta que en 1948 ya lo tenía prácticamente blanco.

 Con veinte años, firmó el primer contrato cinematográfico de su vida con la Twenty Century Fox (ganaba 125 dólares a la semana), para dar inicio a una carrera que la llevó a filmar películas con guiones frívolos pero que sin ella, hoy no serían  nada.  Con ese primer contrato iniciaron la lenta muerte de Norma Jeane Mortenson, la muchacha que nacida el primero de junio de 1926, devendría Marilyn Monroe, el símbolo sexual por excelencia del siglo XX.
 

 Pero mucho de Norma quedó a pesar de los barbitúricos y las bebidas alcohólicas. En su biblioteca se encontraron unos 400 libros en los que aparecían autores clásicos Milton, Dostoievski, Whitman, y modernos como Hemingway, Beckett, Kerouac.

 De un carácter más bien melancólico que se contraponía a la alegre y chispeante imagen que Hollywood fabricó, Norma sentía verdadera pasión por las letras: escribió poemas, notas y llevaba un diario que quizá le costó la vida. Si Dougherty fue el primer esposo de Norma, no fue quien le diera fama en el terreno de sus relaciones sexuales. Ya como Marilyn, su segundo cónyuge, uno de los más famosos jugadores de beisbol, Joe Dimaggio, se casó con ella el 14 de enero de 1954.

 Dicen que Marilyn había comenzado una larga historia de amantes,  pero lo real es que Dimaggio la golpeó en más de una oportunidad y jamás entendió a la mujer que deseaba ser madre por encima de todas las cosas.

 Fue con  Arthur Miller, el reconocido dramaturgo y su tercer esposo, que la muchacha nacida en Los Ángeles salió embarazada, pero perdió la criatura. Miller no fue mejor con ella que Dimaggio: la golpeaba en sus sentimientos, no en su cuerpo.

 A estos tres hombres se une una buena lista en el plano de amantes, pero hay dos hermanos que fueron determinantes en su vida: John F.  y Robert Kennedy. Con el primero sostuvo una larga e intermitente relación, con el segundo entró como parte del juego del clan Kennedy que se pasaban a las mujeres.

 Norma, no Marilyn, escribía en un diario de tapas rojas sus conversaciones y sentimientos con todos los que la rodeaban, así que es totalmente válido que la CIA y el FBI estuvieran muy interesados en ese documento. Quizá  eso explica la razón de la demora entre la hora de la muerte y avisar a la policía en el amanecer del 5 de agosto de 1962, cuando Marilyn, desnuda en su cama, fue declarada muerta.

 Thomas Noguchi, encargado de la autopsia dijo: “No hallé ni una sola marca de aguja, y eso consigné en el diagrama corporal del informe. Sin embargo, curiosamente, sí encontré señales que podían indicar violencia: también apunté esos hallazgos en el diagrama.  Y lo más interesante de ese informe de Noguchi se refiere a los resultados del examen interno de los sistemas cardiovascular, respiratorio, hepático y biliar, sanguíneo y linfático, endocrino, urinario, reproductor y digestivo. “La sección que analizaba el sistema digestivo fue la que más tarde creó la controversia y llevó a decir a los partidarios de la conspiración que probaba el asesinato de Marilyn Monroe, puesto que yo no había detectado ningún rastro del paso de píldoras por el estómago o el intestino delgado. Ningún resto, ningún cristal refractario, aunque los frascos de píldoras recogidos mostraban que ella había ingerido entre 40 y 50 nembutales y abundantes cápsulas de hidrato de cloral”.

 El patólogo declaró más tarde: “junto con el hígado envié muestras de sangre para realizar las pruebas de alcohol y barbitúricos. Además, remití otros órganos para un posterior análisis toxicológico, entre ellos el estómago con su contenido y el intestino. De inmediato me percaté de que los técnicos del laboratorio no habían examinado esos órganos: se limitaron a analizar la sangre y el hígado”.

 Para los investigadores bastaron  el frasco vacío de nembutal y la falta de unas 50 pastillas, para declarar que fue un suicidio. Todavía revolotea la pregunta acerca de dónde se metieron las pastillas sino estaban en el estómago.

 El periodista francés François Forestier en su documentado libro Marilyn y JFK demuestra que no se encontró ni el diario de Marilyn ni ningún otro documento, pero sí hay señales que era monitoreada todo el tiempo hasta por la mafia. Casualmente el día de su muerte Robert Kennedy andaba cerca y fue a la última persona que la muchacha llamó. Como dice Forestier  “Lo eliminaron todo para mantener el mito viviente, los Kennedy eran intocables”.

 Ese  secreto de tal dimensión que ha sido guardado por tantos lustros ha hecho crecer el mito Marilyn.  El negativo de su foto desnuda de 1949, (le pagaron solo 50 dólares) que escandalizó a Hollywood,  fue subastado en cerca de 75 mil hace unos años. En 1999, por ejemplo, la galería Christie's de Nueva York recaudó más de 13 millones de dólares durante el remate de unas 1.500 pertenencias de Marilyn.  Y se trata lo mismo de una carta o de un comprobante de compra. Su repetida frase que para dormir solo usaba “Unas gotas de Chanel número 5”,  sigue siendo el slogan más fuerte en la actualidad de la firma francesa de perfumes.

 En el año 2000 la reconocida periodista y escritora norteamericana Joyce Carol Oates dio a conocer su obra Blonde, una suerte de novela que refleja la vida del mito rubio. Ernesto Cardenal décadas atrás le dedicó un hermoso poema, Elton Jones le hizo una bella canción, exposiciones de sus fotos desnuda o vestida, han recorrido el mundo, ha sido pintada por grandes celebridades y aún a su modesta tumba llevan flores.

 La mujer que dijo frases como  “Hollywood es un lugar donde te pagan mil dólares por un beso, pero te dan 50 centavos por tu alma”; “Ser sex symbol es una carga pesada. Sobre todo cuando uno está cansado, herido y decepcionado” y “En el fondo siempre tuve la sensación de no ser del todo ‘verdadera’. Creo que toda persona tiene esa sensación cada cierto tiempo. Pero en mi caso llega tan lejos que a veces pienso que solo soy un producto del arte” escribió fragmentos sobre  diversas situaciones humanas.

 En Cuba los 50 años de la muerte de Marilyn se recuerdan con una amplia muestra de sus filmes en la sala Charlot de la Cinemateca de Cuba. El crítico Antonio Mazón Robau escribió en el programa: “Dueña de un magnetismo animal, una suerte de avasallador sex-appeal, Marilyn intervino en muchos filmes, con frecuencia mediocres, los que no obstante resultaban gratos por el solo hecho de su presencia que se imponía por encima del personaje, sin dejar por ello de servir a este. No solo fue una star. Sino también una buena actriz, cualidad que tardaría en ser reconocida por los críticos y sus compañeros de trabajo”.
