The deep economic crisis in Spain in recent years is increasingly
pushing Spanish women into prostitution in locales taken up until now by Romanian, Brazilian and Paraguayan women.

Analysts
from the Central Unit against Immigration Networks and Falsified Documents (UCRIF) of the police say the phenomenon has intensified in recent times, where many women who had gotten out of prostitution have had to return to the "business" given their lack of resources.

A fact also noted by a recent report by Medecins du Monde has found that persons who had managed to insert into the labor market, but have lost their jobs by the crisis, have gone back to prostitution.

The study reveals that about 10 percent of the prostitutes served today by the NGOs are Spanish, behind those of South American origin, Eastern Europe and Sub-Saharan.

To make matters worse, many women have had to lower the price of their services and some are forced to have sex without condoms due to pressure from customers.

In contrast, other
Spaniards are among those arrested for being part of criminal organizations who exploit women. 39 were arrested in the first five months of the year, although the Romanians again are highest among the number of people arrested for this crime (51), away from the Nigerians, with 20 arrests.
