June 8 (PL).- The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) insisted
on the need for real, effective and tangible peace for the country in
order to overcome existing inequalities.The Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC) in a public statement posted today in its website, holds that such a peace can only be attained through the large-scale mobilization of all sectors willing to see a change.
That is how we in the FARC understand a situation that we strive to resolve, the rebels state in this text that hails the student movement on the occasion of Fallen Students Day, observed today and tomorrow.
The guerrilla force believes that Colombia’s hopes are pinned on its youth and students and their ability to mobilize. “Our homeland is confident of your creative spirit, joy and fortitude to keep supporting the fervent and massive clamor for a peace with social justice now resounding across the national geography”, the FARC holds, stating its recognition of the student movement’s struggle for social justice and sovereignty as well as its unity and solidarity with various signs of resistance currently thriving in the country.
Our youth, the FARC continues, is now standing up to the decline and privatization of public education fostered by the government’s neo-liberal strategy.
According to the Colombian rebels, President Juan Manuel Santos is trying to make even more changes so that he can line his pockets and those of our own homegrown capitalists with a greater presence of big business and its transnational corporations. This is at the expense of all the natural and human resources he has put out to tender, surrendering our national sovereignty to the detriment of the Colombian people’s most elementary living conditions.
Likewise, the FARC refers to the free trade agreements with the United States and other nations as prejudicial to Colombia. In this regard the FARC warns of the way these agreements only add to the crisis currently imposing on the environment, people, workers, peasants, industrial activity and food production.
On top of that –the text goes on– these treaties will affect and destroy public education, critical thinking, scientific research and the formation of free women and men.
The FARC believes that patriotism and national independence become but old-fashioned absurdities in light of the neo-liberal wave now spreading throughout our educational institutions.
On the other hand, the guerrilla force underscores that these are times of unity and struggle that call for a true popular mobilization of people who take to the streets and impose from there a law that provides for free education up to the university level.
In the meantime, they remind readers that war and repression by the army, police and paramilitary groups are on the rise, as is the violation of fundamental rights by state agents.
“Trade union, peasant and popular leaders are being murdered and threatened; violence against human rights activists is increasing; more and more Colombians are stripped of their land or forced to move elsewhere, and the restitution of their property is nothing but a deceitful publicity stunt designed by the government”, the message denounces.
The authorities keep bringing pressure to bear on and issuing warnings to the democratic and revolutionary opposition, while State terrorism and exploitation go hand in hand with impunity.
According to the FARC, the peace offered by President Santos excludes our people and disregards any change of the causes that gave rise to and still fuel the existing conflict.
“His is therefore an irresponsible, demagogic, lying, unpatriotic and above all else vote-seeking, reelection-oriented strategy tailored to the interests of the White House”, the guerrilla force points out.
Guerrilla colombiana insiste en paz real y tangible

8 jun (PL) Las Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC)
insistió en la necesidad de una paz real, efectiva y tangible para el
país, que permita avanzar en la superación de las desigualdades. En una declaración pública divulgada hoy en su página de Internet, la guerrilla sostiene que esa paz sólo podrá lograrse con la movilización masiva de todos los sectores interesados en los cambios.
Así lo hemos entendido las FARC y en ello tenemos comprometidas todas nuestras energías, expresa la insurgencia en el texto, en el cual saluda al movimiento estudiantil colombiano, con motivo del Día del Estudiante Caído, que se conmemora hoy y mañana.
En opinión de la grupo guerrillero las esperanzas de Colombia están puestas en su juventud, sus estudiantes y en su movilización.
"La patria confía en su creatividad, en su alegría y en su fuerza para seguir acompañando el fervoroso y masivo clamor por la paz con justicia social que resuena en toda la geografía nacional", apuntan las FARC.
Igualmente aplauden las jornadas de lucha del estudiantado por construir soberanía y justicia social, sus esfuerzos unitarios y su solidaridad con los diversos procesos de resistencia que florecen hoy en el país.
La juventud colombiana, agregan las FARC, enfrenta directamente a estas alturas el desmejoramiento y la privatización de la educación pública, contenidos en la estrategia neoliberal del gobierno.
Según la guerrilla, el presidente Juan Manuel Santos pretende readecuar aún más el país a fin de que las corporaciones transnacionales del gran capital puedan llenar hasta el fondo sus bolsillos, con el beneficio collateral de los capitalistas criollos.
Ello, explica, a costa de subastar los recursos naturales y humanos del país, en una entrega de la soberanía nacional y en desmedro de las más elementales condiciones de vida de las clases populares.
Asimismo, refiere que los tratados de libre comercio con Estados Unidos y otras naciones son perjudiciales para Colombia.
En ese sentido, advierte que dichos acuerdos profundizan la crisis medioambiental, humanitaria, laboral, del campesinado, la producción alimentaria e industrial.
También, añade el texto, esos tratados atacarán y arrasarán con la educación pública, el pensamiento crítico, la investigación científica y la formación de mujeres y hombres libres.
Para la guerrilla el sentimiento patriótico y la independencia nacional constituyen anticuadas ridiculeces a la luz de la cátedra neoliberal que se viene imponiendo en los centros docentes.
Por otra parte, manifiesta que el momento requiere de unidad y lucha, y verdaderos festivales de movilización para imponer desde la calle una ley que garantice la gratuidad educativa hasta el nivel superior.
En tanto, recuerdan que la guerra y la represión militar, policial y paramilitar arrecian, y con ellas la violación de los derechos fundamentales por agentes del Estado.
"Se asesinan y amenazan líderes sindicales, agrarios, populares. Aumenta la violencia contra defensores de derechos humanos, continúa sin parar el despojo de tierras, se acrecienta el número de los desplazados y la restitución de tierras no pasa de estrategia publicitaria del gobierno", denuncia.
La oposición democrática y revolucionaria padece cada día más los asedios y advertencias de las autoridades. El terrorismo de Estado y el desangre marchan de la mano impunemente, puntualiza.
De acuerdo con las FARC, la paz que propone Santos excluye al pueblo y los cambios encaminados a superar las causas que originaron y siguen alimentando el conflicto.
"Es por tanto una estrategia irresponsable, demagógica, embustera, antipatriótica, subordinada a los intereses de la Casa Blanca y sobre todo electorera y reeleccionista", subraya.
