El sicólogo y periodista opositor, de 48 años, ha rechazado antes varias ofertas de asilo, la primera de ellas precisamente de España, y ha señalado que sólo aceptará viajar si le garantizan que puede regresar a la isla para seguir pidiendo la libertad de 26 presos políticos que están enfermos.

Según Licet Zamora, los médicos que le atienden aseguran que la situación de Fariñas se ha complicado por una infección sanguínea. "Su situación es grave.
