"Creo que un concierto de tal naturaleza trasciende las márgenes de América Latina, el Caribe y la comunidad hispana de Estados Unidos, pues el mundo entero necesita que la paz sea una realidad", expresó el cantante.

"Cuba siempre me sorprende", afirmó. "Estuve aquí antes, en 1995, en un concierto que se dio en la escalinata de la Universidad de La Habana, en los momentos más difíciles del periodo especial. Entonces supe de qué madera resistente estaba construida el alma de este pueblo. Muchas de las personas que asistieron ese día lo hicieron venciendo las dificultades de la época. Catorce años después el fruto de aquella resistencia se hace visible. Ustedes nunca han perdido la alegría ni el sentido de la solidaridad".

Jovanotti es el nombre artístico de Lorenzo Cherubini. A Jovanotti le interesa sumamente la música cubana, y de manera muy especial la portadora de añejas tradiciones: "Es una suerte saber que un fenómeno como Buenavista Social Club no es una excepción. Aquí hay maestros suficientes como para contar con una decena de agrupaciones de este tipo. También tienen la suerte de poseer uno de los estudios de grabación más fascinantes que se puedan encontrar, el de la EGREM en la calle San Miguel. El año próximo pienso grabar allí algunos temas del álbum que estoy preparando".
