Everybody: Speak up to break the plan of silence!

Brethren of all America:

With great worry the Festival House, a cultural institution in charge of the organization tasks of International Festival of the New Latin-American Cinema, has closely followed the events occurred in the sister Republic of Honduras.

Honduran young people and moviemakers, breaking off the media siege imposed after the coup d’état, have denounced not a few actions of violence and barbarity against Honduran reporters and common people who are trying to confront the coup d’état so, are being brutally repressed.

Leaning on a media coup plot for support the coup d’état, the usurpers close radio and television stations in an attempt to hush up them, threat violent physical aggressions to journalists and moviemakers, in order to do Hondurans ignore that the participants in the coup are being repudiated by the whole world and have been declared illegitimate by all International Organizations.

It’s the same old story. The moviemakers’ lives are in danger again. Cameramen, who with people’s eyes unmask actions and intentions, become object of cold and calculated persecution. Nothing else could be closer to that “Plan Condor” guided by the Empire and his followers who attempted to exterminate the left in South America.

The International Festival of the New Latin-American Cinema denounces before the intellectuals of the whole world, and particularly, before the ones who are from our region, all the atrocities, repression and abuses that our companions, the reporters, are suffering in Honduras, as a part of a plan that the participants in the coup d’état are carrying on trying to silence and to hide people´s fight to regain their freedom.

Everybody: Raise his voice to break off the plan of silence! Raise all our voices to break off the risk of complicities, calculations, cowardice and manoeuvrings which from the Empire’s bosom and his servants are destined to sacrifice Honduras and its people!

Llamamiento de Alfredo Guevara,
Presidente del festival internacional del nuevo cine latinoamericano

¡Expresarnos todos para romper el plan de silencio!

Hermanos y hermanos de la América toda:

Con gran preocupación la Casa del Festival, institución cultural encargada de las labores organizativas del Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano, ha seguido de cerca los acontecimientos ocurridos en la hermana República de Honduras.

Jóvenes y profesionales del cine de ese país, rompiendo el cerco mediático impuesto tras el golpe de estado, han denunciado no pocos actos de violencia y barbarie contra la comunidad del audiovisual hondureño y contra el pueblo que trata, brutalmente reprimido, de enfrentarse al golpe de estado.

Apoyándose en un verdadero golpe mediático que acompaña al de estado, los usurpadores cierran o silencian estaciones de radio y televisión, y producen amenazas y agresiones físicas a periodistas y cineastas, para hacer ignorar al pueblo hondureño, que los golpistas están siendo repudiados por el mundo y que han sido declarados ilegítimos por los Organismos internacionales.

La historia se repite. Vuelve la vida de los cineastas a correr verdadero peligro. Las cámaras que con ojos de pueblo desenmascaran  acciones e intenciones, se tornan objeto de fría y calculada persecución. Nada más cercano a aquel Plan Cóndor que dirigido por el Imperio y sus secuaces intentaron exterminar la izquierda en el Cono Sur de América.

El Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano denuncia ante los intelectuales de todo el mundo, y en particular de nuestra región, las atrocidades, represión y abusos que sufren nuestros compañeros del audiovisual en Honduras, a partir del plan que los golpistas de ese país tratan de aplicar silenciando y ocultando la lucha del pueblo por recuperar sus libertades.

¡Expresarnos todos para romper el plan de silencio! ¡Expresarnos todos para romper el riesgo que complicidades, cálculos, cobardías y maniobras que en el seno del Imperio y entre sus servidores van destinadas a sacrificar a Honduras y su pueblo!
