HAVANA, 4 April (ANSA) – Cuban police continued today to investigate the
death of an Italian who was found strangled in Havana last Thursday. He
was a well-known person in the world of the stage, in which he had been
working in Cuba for the past 15 years.
Born in Genoa in 1941, Franco Bozzo moved to Havana in 1994, after
having retired from his career as a naval engineer in Italy.
He then started to work in Cuba as a stage photographer until he became
an artistic director and a producer. Last Thursday he was found dead by
strangulation at his Havana home, according to what Italian diplomatic
sources told ANSA after Cuban police opened an investigation.
Bozzo lived alone in a house borrowed from a Cuban family after
–according to what sources close to him told ANSA— he was thrown out of
his living quarters by actress Monica Guffanti, an Argentine
transplanted to Cuba many years ago and a big friend of his in the past,
who discovered he had with him photos of young naked kids.
According to those sources, Guffanti threatened him and now wanted to
have him expelled from Cuba, and this was the reason why Bozzo was very
distressed. Six years ago, Bozzo married well-known Cuban actress Paula

HAVANA, 5 (ANSA) – Police identified suspects in the case of murdered
Italian actor Franco Bozzo, while it pursued interrogations among his
circle of friends from the world of the stage and investigations at the
house where he lived in Havana.
Police agents and the examining magistrate assigned to the murder of
67-years-old Bozzo, who was found strangled last Thursday in his bed,
continued to work uninterruptedly today as during the previous days in
his house at the Vedado neighbourhood.
Police have already identified several suspects and continue to pursue
new interrogations while waiting for the autopsy results, according to
what sources close to the investigation told ANSA.
Fifty-year-old Cuban actor Waldo Franco was again summoned by the police
to be interrogated.
Franco, who says he had been the closest person to Bozzo, whom he met in
1997, frequently visited him at his house. The last time he did so was
last Monday, the eve of the murder.
Argentinian actress Monica Guffanti, who resides in Cuba since 1962,
kicked him out of his house ten months ago after having found that he
had photos of naked young men, according to Franco, who affirms that
Guffanti never showed anyone those photos.
"But Bozzo did not like pornography", Franco emphatically argues,
denying the accusation of corrupting children that Guffanti made against
him. Bozzo, according to Franco, had handed Guffanti a considerable
amount of money –certain sources refer to $10,000 dollars— before being
evicted from the apartment.

cubana continuaba investigando hoy la muerte del
italiano encontrado estrangulado en La Habana el
jueves, un hombre muy conocido en el mundo del
teatro, para el que trabajaba en Cuba desde hacía 15
años.
Nacido en Génova en 1941, Franco Bozzo se trasladó a
La Habana en 1994, jubilado luego de una carrera en
Italia como ingeniero naval.
Empezó así a trabajar en Cuba como fotógrafo en el
teatro, hasta convertirse en director artístico y
productor. El jueves fue encontrado muerto por
estangulamiento en su casa de La Habana, dijeron a
ANSA fuentes diplomáticas italianas luego de que la
policía cubana abrió una investigación.
Bozzo vivía solo en una casa prestada por una
familia cubana después de que, dicen a ANSA fuentes
cercanas a él, fue expulsado de su vivienda por la
actriz Mónica Guffanti, argentina afincada en Cuba
desde hace años y gran amiga de él en el pasado, que
lo encontró en posesión de fotografías de chicos
jóvenes desnudos.
Guffanti, según las fuentes, lo amenazaba y ahora
quería expulsarlo de Cuba, motivo por el que Bozzo
estaba muy apesadumbrado.
Hace seis años Bozzo se casó con la conocida actriz
cubana Paula Alí. Todavía incrédula por la noticia,
Alí dijo a Ansa que "era muy, muy amado aquí, era

POLICIA CUBANA ENCUENTRA SOSPECHOSOS
DE ASESINATO ITALIANO
LA HABANA, 5 (ANSA) - La policía
identificó a sospechosos del asesinato del actor
italiano Franco Bozzo, mientras continúa realizando
interrogatorios en su círculo de amistades del mundo
del teatro e investigando en la casa de La Habana
donde residía.
Agentes de la policía y el juez instructor del
asesinato de Bozzo, 67 años, encontrado estrangulado
el jueves pasado en su cama, continuaban hoy a
trabajar sin pausa, como los días anteriores, en su
casa del barrio del Vedado.
La policía tiene ya sospechosos y sigue realizando
nuevos interrogatorios mientras espera los
resultados de la autopsia, dijeron a ANSA fuentes
cercanas a la investigación.
El actor cubano Waldo Franco, de 50 años, fue
convocado nuevamente por la policía para ser
interrogado.
Franco, que dice haber sido la persona más cercana
de Bozzo, a quien conoció en 1997, iba
frecuentemente a visitarlo a su casa, la última vez
el lunes pasado, el día antes del asesinato.
La actriz argentina Mónica Guffanti, residente en
Cuba desde 1962, lo echó de su casa hace diez meses
después de haberle encontrado en posesión de fotos
de jóvenes desnudos, dice Franco, que afirma que
Guffanti no enseño nunca a nadie esas fotos.
"Pero a Bozzo no le gustaba la pornografía", afirma
con rotundidad Franco, negando la acusación que
Guffanti hizo sobre él de corrupción de menores.
Bozzo, según Franco, había dejado a Guffanti una
cantidad importante de dinero -algunas fuentes
hablan de 10.000 dólares- antes de ser echado del
