Caracas, October 2, [2008] ABN.- Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez called the various strategies implemented by the US government to save its financial sector a clear sign that the country is headed for socialism.
He made this statement last Thursday on the occasion of Venezuela’s International Tourism Fair (Fitven 2008) in Bolívar state, and added that ten years ago it was all about privatization and the Empire’s plans to “reduce the State’s role to almost nothing. Intervention, populism? That was unthinkable. But now the American State had to go out to save the private banks.”
“Comrade Bush has had to make decisions in the style of Vladimir Lenin, and now everybody wonders: is the US by any chance moving towards socialism? (...) I have the answer: Yes, sir! One day the United States will be socialist, I’m sure of that,” he said emphatically, asserting that “Tourism is a profoundly human economic current and a major way to achieve people’s integration, rapprochement and happiness”.
Chávez also took the opportunity to highlight how the National Constitution addresses and takes part in national tourism, making it a State’s duty, in line with article 310 of the Magna Carta, where it says: “Tourism is an economic activity of national interest and a high priority in the country's strategy for diversification and sustainable development. As part of the foundation of the socioeconomic regime contemplated by this Constitution, the State shall promulgate measures to guarantee the development of tourism. The State shall see to the creation and strengthening of a national tourist industry”.

ABN.- El presidente de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela este jueves asintió
que las diferentes estrategias que ha venido maniobrando el gobierno
Estadounidense para rescatar su sector financiero, es muestra clara de que van
rumbo al socialismo.
El comentario lo realizó con motivo de la inauguración de la Feria Internacional
de Turismo Venezuela (Fitven 2008), desde el estado Bolívar, donde comentó que
hace diez años la política era la privatización de todo, “llevar al Estado a su
mínima expresión por designios del imperio. ¿Intervensión, populismo? eso era
impensable, y ahora, en contraste, el Estado norteamericano tuvo que salir a
salvar a los bancos privados.”
“El camarada Bush ha tenido que tomar decisiones al estilo de Vladimir Lenin, y
ahora todos se preguntan ¿será que Estados Unidos va rumbo al socialismo? (...)
yo tengo la respuesta: “¡Yes Sir!, Estados Unidos algún día irá al socialismo,
no tengo la menor duda”, agregó enfáticamente el Mandatario nacional.
Refiriéndose al turismo, aseveró que “El turismo es una corriente económica
profundamente humana. Es, además, “una de las principales vías para la
integración, el acercamiento y la felicidad de los pueblos”.
Igualmente aprovechó la oportunidad para aludir cómo la Constitución Nacional
toma y hace parte de la actividad turística del país y la convierte en un deber
del Estado, por lo cual citó el artículo 310 de la carta magna.
El mismo expresa: “El turismo es una actividad económica de interés nacional,
prioritaria para el país en su estrategia de diversificación y desarrollo
sustentable. Dentro de las fundamentaciones del régimen socioeconómico previsto
en esta Constitución, el Estado dictará las medidas que garanticen su desarrollo.
El Estado velará por la creación y fortalecimiento del sector turístico nacional”.
