Beijing.— «On behalf of the Cuban delegation to the Olympic Games, we would like to express our deepest appreciation, both to the Chinese volunteers and the Cuban Embassy staff, for all the help you give us at all times», said José Ramón Fernández, vice-president of the Council of Ministers and president of the Cuban Olympic Committee (COC), in a ceremony held at Casa Cuba.
Fernández extolled the work of those who see to our athletes every step of the way and day after day put every effort into the task of looking after each small detail to make everything work out just fine.
The COC president stressed the work made in these Games by the 20 Chinese youths who improved their Spanish language skills in Cuba as part of a cooperation agreement between the two countries and were invited to the heartfelt gathering. Our homeland is anything but alien to them, not only because of the unbreakable bonds of friendship our two peoples have enjoyed for almost half a century, but also because they are well acquainted with Cuba. Now they do their best to attend to the Spanish-speaking competitors who came to Beijing 2008, including our delegation.
In his words, Fernández conveyed the best wishes of the Cuban Chancellor Felipe Pérez Roque who, as soon as he heard of the ceremony, sent his congratulations to the whole Cuban diplomatic staff and the Chinese volunteers on a job well done and their support of the Cuban athletes.
«We thank the Cuban Embassy in China in particular for its enthusiastic and steadfast assistance and their presence in every sports facility where the Cubans are competing», the COC president remarked.
Cuban Sports Institute president Christian Jiménez and Cuban ambassador Carlos Miguel Pereira were also present in this ceremony, where the Chinese staff of the Cuban embassy received the acknowledgment of the Cuban Young Communist League in a speech delivered by National Board member Joel Queipo, who stated Cuba’s appreciation for their work.

Beijing.— «En representación de la delegación olímpica cubana queremos expresar el más profundo reconocimiento por toda la ayuda que nos dan en cada momento, tanto los voluntarios chinos como la Embajada de Cuba en China», expresó el vicepresidente del Consejo de Ministros y presidente del Comité Olímpico Cubano, José Ramón Fernández, durante una actividad celebrada en Casa Cuba.
Fernández destacó el trabajo de quienes acompañan a nuestra delegación en cada actividad y a todos los que con el corazón y el esfuerzo diario velan por los pequeños detalles para que todo salga bien.
El presidente del COC enfatizó en el trabajo que desarrollan en Beijing 2008 los 20 jóvenes chinos que perfeccionaron su español en Cuba como parte del convenio de colaboración entre ambos países y que estuvieron presentes en la emotiva jornada. A ellos nuestra patria no les es ajena, no solo por la amistad indestructible que ha unido a nuestros pueblos por casi medio siglo, sino porque la conocen de cerca. Ahora realizan su máximo esfuerzo en la asistencia de las delegaciones de habla hispana, incluida la nuestra.
Durante su intervención, Fernández también transmitió un reconocimiento del canciller cubano, Felipe Pérez Roque, quien al conocer de la celebración envió una felicitación a todo el personal de la misión diplomática cubana y a los propios voluntarios chinos por el apoyo y el trabajo que realizan en función de la delegación deportiva.
«Agradecemos a la Embajada de Cuba en China, especialmente por su ayuda siempre entusiasta y firme, así como su presencia en las más disímiles situaciones en las que está involucrada la delegación olímpica», apuntó el presidente del COC.
Durante la actividad, en la cual participaron además el presidente del INDER, Christian Jiménez, y el embajador de Cuba en China Carlos Miguel Pereira, recibieron un reconocimiento especial por parte de la Juventud Comunista, los trabajadores chinos de la misión estatal. Joel Queipo, miembro del Buró Nacional de la UJC, les habló y les transmitió un abrazo colectivo.
