Iran has broken the West's nuclear apartheid
Declarations of ambassador Mostafa Alaei to GRANMA

Iran has broken the nuclear apartheid of the West and it disturbs to powerful. However, we believe that our success in this technology for peaceful purposes can serve all the poor nations. In other words, with this new step a new South-South chapter of cooperation opens up.

The ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Mostafa Alaei, in an interview granted to Granma, offered this explanation.

The diplomat explained that Teheran invested several years in scientific and technological efforts and has completed the cycle of enrichment of Uranium for peaceful purposes and, consequently, has installed more than 3 000 centrifuges.

“Meanwhile, the Western powers have done everything possible to prevent this technological jump. They have laid obstacles and conditions. But, if before, when we began, we asked no one's permission, now that we have completed this development there is even less reason to ask it,” emphasized the diplomat.

He described the environment of confidence created by the Persian government adding that high officials of the International Atomic Energy agency have visited the country and the authorities have answered their questions on nuclear development.

He further explained that a new reality has been created since Iran is now part of the club of states which develop nuclear energy – for peaceful purposes in this case – and, therefore, is in condition to talk directly with any government about this and any other subject.

Equally, we stated that if Iran is to be supervised for its nuclear activity, all the countries that have this technology must be equally supervised, he stressed. This is what is called collective commitment, he concluded.

Irán ha roto el apartheid nuclear que tiene Occidente, y es eso lo que les molesta a los poderosos. Sin embargo, pensamos que nuestro logro en el dominio de esta tecnología para uso pacífico puede servir a todas las naciones pobres, es decir, con este paso se abre un nuevo capítulo en la cooperación Sur-Sur.

Así lo definió el embajador de la República Islámica de Irán, señor Mostafa Alaei, en entrevista para Granma.

El diplomático explicó que Teherán, tras varios años de esfuerzo científico y tecnológico, ya logró completar el ciclo para el enriquecimiento del uranio con propósitos pacíficos, y que al respecto ya se han instalado más de 3 000 centrífugas.

"Las potencias occidentales, mientras tanto, han hecho todo lo posible por impedir este salto tecnológico. Han puesto obstáculos y condicionamientos. Pero si antes, cuando empezamos, no pedimos permiso a nadie, ahora que completamos este desarrollo, con menos razón tendríamos que pedirlo", enfatizó el diplomático.

Destacó el ambiente de confianza creado por el Gobierno persa, y al respecto dijo que los más altos funcionarios de la Agencia Internacional de Energía Atómica han visitado el país, y las autoridades han respondido todas las preguntas formuladas sobre su desarrollo nuclear.

Manifestó que ahora se ha creado una nueva realidad, por cuanto Irán forma parte ya del club de estados que dominan la energía nuclear —en este caso para fines pacíficos— y, por tanto, está capacitado para hablar de tú a tú con cualquier otro Gobierno sobre ese y cualquier tema.

En igual sentido, planteamos que si Irán debe ser supervisado en su actividad nuclear, todos los países que posean esta tecnología deben estar bajo igual escrutinio, recalcó. Eso se llama compromiso colectivo, concluyó.
