Gaza, August 20 – the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) threatened to avenge the death of six of its members, killed in a new round of selective assassinations carried out by the Israeli army this Monday in the Gaza Strip, said EFE.
“Following this horrible massacre, all options are open for the Ezzedin al Qasam Brigades”, assured Abu Obaida, spokesperson for this armed wing of Hamas in Gaza.
The “occupation forces”, he warned, “are playing with fire” by attacking members of the Islamic movement that controls Gaza.
On Monday, an Israeli helicopter launched a missile into the vehicle in which the six militants were travelling, close to the refugee camp of Al Bureij, commented Palestinian medical sources.
According to witnesses, four belonged to the armed wing of the movement, whilst the other two were members of the Executive Force, a security body created by Hamas when it came to power in March 2006.
The car was completely destroyed and the doctors had difficulties identifying the bodies, burnt and spread out across the area, explained Muawia Hasanin, director of the Palestinian ambulance service.
Various Israeli tanks also opened fire onto the site of the bombing and entered the area. The Israeli army confirmed that “there was an attack against an automobile with militants that today launched rockets towards Israel, and we identified them doing so” said one spokesperson.
Hamas denied this version of events and there have been no pronounced attacks against Israel since control of the Gaza Strip was handed over last June, following clashes with the Al Fatah movement.

Las «fuerzas de ocupación, advirtió, están jugando con fuego» al atacar a miembros del movimiento islamista, que controla Gaza.
El lunes, un helicóptero israelí lanzó una bomba sobre el vehículo en el que viajaban los seis militantes, cerca del campamento de refugiados de Al Bureij, comentaron fuentes médicas palestinas.
Según testigos, cuatro pertenecían al brazo armado del movimiento, mientras que los otros dos eran miembros de la Fuerza Ejecutiva, cuerpo de seguridad creado por HAMAS a su llegada al poder, en marzo de 2006.
El auto quedó completamente destrozado, y los enfermeros tuvieron dificultades para recoger los cuerpos, carbonizados y desperdigados por la zona, explicó Muawia Hasanin, director del servicio de ambulancias palestino.
También varios tanques israelíes abrieron fuego contra el lugar del bombardeo y se internaron en el área. El ejército israelí confirmó que «hubo un ataque contra un automóvil con militantes que hoy lanzaron cohetes hacia Israel, y los identificamos haciéndolo», dijo una portavoz.
HAMAS negó esa versión y no se ha adjudicado ningún ataque contra Israel desde que pasó a controlar la Franja de Gaza en junio pasado, tras choques con el movimiento Al Fatah.
